Beginner Guitar Students

(Or Parents of Beginners)

Do any of these situations apply to you?

  1. You are brand new to the guitar and need help getting started.

  2. You are a parent or grandparent searching for the very best guitar instruction and advice you can find. (Even advice on purchasing a guitar if haven’t yet)

  3. You’ve been trying to learn on your own for a while but feel stuck or frustrated and need help to get to the next level.

  4. You are already a singer and want to learn more about music so you can capture those ideas you hear in your head and be able to write your own music or accompany yourself on guitar.

  5. You get a kick out of playing guitar in those fun video games and want to learn how to play real guitar.

I also accept beginner electric bass students.

If you answered yes to any of the above, you have come to the right place.

Learning guitar can seem like a daunting task all on your own. I have helped students at all ages and levels from beginners, to people at College and University level, and even people who play professionally, successfully improve not only their guitar skills, but songwriting, and overall musical knowledge as well.

As a Teacher:
I am an expert on both fingerstyle and flatpicking techniques, whether applied to acoustic or electric guitar. Together we can explore basic to a little more advanced music topics related to guitar including: fretboard knowledge, chords, scales and how they relate to chords and how to use them creatively to improvise, theory, sight reading, and songwriting coaching.

Philosophy:
My goal as a music teacher is to follow a plan based on your goals, especially after some basics are covered. Goals change over time as the student learns more and becomes more proficient, whether playing is a hobby or a professional aspiration. This is why it is important to maintain an open channel of communication between teacher and student. If the student has a good working knowledge of the basics, they can take guitar and music in any direction they desire.

No “cookie cutter approach” here. Lessons are structured around each individual according to their needs, interests, and goals. You can learn a variety of styles from a versatile guitarist.

With more than 40 yrs of learning and studying guitar, 38yrs of performing experience, and with 27 yrs of teaching experience, I can help you to fast-track your musical, guitar experience.

I know you’ll feel proud of your accomplishments.
